Luton Town face a tough test of their survival credentials as they welcome Brentford to Kenilworth Road.
Luton can temporarily move off the bottom of the Championship table with a win, whilst Brentford can strengthen their promotion bid by climbing to third with victory.
Team news
Embed from Getty ImagesIzzy Brown, Kazenga LuaLua and Sonny Bradley should all be available for Luton, having missed Saturday’s loss at Charlton with minor knocks.
Brentford could have Pontus Jansson available after a month out with a hip injury, whilst Sergi Canos is nearing full fitness but won’t be risked until he is ready.
Mathias Jensen (hamstring) is ruled out alongside Nikos Karelis (knee) and Marcus Forss (hamstring).
Form
Luton enter this match with two wins from their last three outings (W2, L1), scoring once in the first half of each of those three matches.
Brentford come into this game with one defeat in their last nine league matches (W4, D4, L1), whilst managing just two clean sheets in their last five away trips.
Stat Attack
- Luton have lost their last three league meetings against Brentford without scoring, although the Hatters did concede ten goals across those three clashes.
- Brentford have won just one of their last four trips to Kenilworth Road in all competitions (W1, D1, L2), winning 1-0 in November 2008.
- No English player in the Championship has scored more goals than Brentford’s Ollie Watkins, who has scored 21 goals in 34 league appearances this season.
Prediction
Luton have shown some positive progress in recent weeks which has probably occurred at the right time, because Brentford will be up for this game after producing a seven goal mauling against the Hatters in late November.
This should therefore be a good attacking game of football because Brentford seem to have hit a slightly wobbly patch, which will suit Luton if they can get the first goal and push on the front foot.
I however can’t see past a Bees win because Luton don’t look like they will have enough to stop Brentford once they hit their stride.
Prediction: Luton Town 1-3 Brentford
Result: Luton Town 2-1 Brentford
