Sheffield United look to continue their push for a top four finish as they welcome Brighton & Hove Albion to Bramall Lane.
Depending on how Tottenham fare at Chelsea on Saturday lunchtime, the Blades could well reclaim fifth with a win, but a four goal victory coupled with a draw between the London clubs could send them up to fourth.
Brighton meanwhile will stay in 15th position with victory and possibly move further clear of the relegation zone.
Team news
Embed from Getty ImagesSheffield United have no injury or suspension concerns from their win over Bournemouth, with a full squad available for selection.
Brighton could have Dale Stephens available if he passes a late fitness test on a thigh injury.
Alexis Mac Allister (fitness) is also in contention but Jose Izquierdo (knee) is still ruled out.
Form
Sheffield United enter this match with one defeat in their last five league games (W3, D1, L1), but have kept just two clean sheets in their last five home league games.
Brighton come to Yorkshire without a win in their last six league matches (D4, L2), and have conceded three goals in each of their last two away trips.
Stat Attack
- Sheffield United have avoided defeat in four of their last five meetings against Brighton (W3, D1, L1).
- Brighton have won one of their last four trips to Bramall Lane (W1, L3), with both teams scoring in all four of those clashes.
- No Sheffield United player has produced more league assists than Lys Mousset this season, who has assisted in four of the Blades’ 28 league goals.
- Brighton’s Lewis Dunk has won five 50/50 battles this season in comparison to none in entirety of last season.
- No team has played more long balls this season than Sheffield United, who have produced 1,940 long balls in 26 matches.
Prediction
With Chelsea and Tottenham playing each other early on Saturday, this is a huge opportunity for the Blades to impose themselves firmly into the top four race given that they have a good run-in with no ‘big six’ clashes in rapid succession.
Brighton meanwhile need to just keep doing what they’re doing on the attack but tighten up at the back, which is costing them points which they cannot afford to lose from here on in given how close the relegation fight is.
Do that then we might have a good game on our hands but if Brighton don’t then I can see this being a routine win for the Blades with a clean sheet to boot.
Prediction: Sheffield United 2-0 Brighton
Result: Sheffield United 1-1 Brighton
