2019-20 Premier League: Week 27 – Burnley vs Bournemouth

Burnley welcome a relegation battling Bournemouth to Turf Moor in a crucial Premier League clash for both teams.

Burnley can climb to eighth with a win whilst Bournemouth look to leapfrog Brighton into 15th position with victory and results elsewhere swinging in their favour.

Chris Wood is in contention for Burnley if he passes a late fitness test on a hamstring injury suffered during last Saturday’s win at Southampton.

Johann Berg Gudmundsson (thigh) is also expected to be available but Ashley Barnes (groin), Matt Lowton (knee) and Ben Gibson (fitness) are ruled out.

Bournemouth will have Jefferson Lerma back from suspension which saw him miss their defeat at Sheffield United a fortnight ago.

Charlie Daniels, Chris Mepham (both knee), Lloyd Kelly (thigh), David Brooks (ankle) and Arnaut Danjuma (foot) are still sidelined.

Form

Burnley enter this match unbeaten in their last four league games (W3, D1), whilst scoring in three of their last five home games (W2, D1, L2).

Bournemouth have taken just six points from their last seven league matches (W2, L5), and have scored in each of their last three outings after failing to score in five of their previous six beforehand.

Prediction

Burnley were just brilliant against Southampton in terms of relentless pressing and limiting the Saints to mainly long range shots, which could pose an issue for Bournemouth who also like to press hard.

The Cherries however are still sloppy in defence so unless they improve that aspect, I just can’t see past a Burnley win because the Clarets will eventually wear down Bournemouth’s defence.

Prediction: Burnley 2-1 Bournemouth

Result: Burnley 3-0 Bournemouth
