2019-20 Premier League: Week 24 – Wolves vs Liverpool

Wolverhampton Wanderers look to follow up their comeback win over Southampton last weekend with a bigger scalp, as they welcome Liverpool to Molineux.

Wolves can climb to fifth with at least a point whilst Liverpool will restore their 16 point lead over Manchester City with victory.

Willy Boly is set to return from an ankle injury which had sidelined him since late October.

Diogo Jota (calf) is also in contention to start but Ruben Vinagre is still out with a hamstring injury.

Liverpool could welcome Dejan Lovren back into the starting lineup after the Croatian defender missed the last month with a hamstring injury.

Xherdan Shaqiri (knock), Naby Keita (muscle), Nathaniel Clyne (knee) and James Milner (muscle) are still ruled out.

Prediction

On paper, this looks like a Liverpool win given their recent league form over Wolves but I can see this being a much closer battle because Wolves can be difficult to beat even when behind as Southampton found out on Saturday.

Liverpool however played excellently against Man Utd on Sunday so should be unplayable, if they can quickly impose their style otherwise I can see Wolves creating serious problems in the same vein that they did against Man City last month.

This therefore is a tough one to call but I am going for a tight away win minus a clean sheet, because Liverpool’s quality should eventually be enough to edge this battle.

Prediction: Wolves 1-2 Liverpool

Result: Wolves 1-2 Liverpool
