2019-20 Premier League: Week 22 – Manchester United vs Norwich

Manchester United are still searching for their first win of a new decade as they welcome Norwich City to Old Trafford.

A win will see United stay fifth whilst Norwich are currently rock-bottom and looking to reduce their six point deficit from safety down to three points.

Harry Maguire is a doubt for Manchester United after missing their midweek Carabao Cup clash against Manchester City with a hip injury.

Jesse Lingard is out with illness but Luke Shaw is expected to return after two matches out through illness.

Marcos Rojo (groin), Axel Tuanzebe (hamstring), Paul Pogba (ankle) and Scott McTominay (knee) are ruled out.

Norwich could be without Teemu Pukki due to a combination of hamstring and toe injuries.

Ralf Fahrmann could however return from a hamstring injury which had sidelined him in recent weeks.

Josip Drmic (thigh), Ben Godfrey and Timm Klose (knee) are ruled out, although Drmic could return next weekend against Bournemouth.

Form

Man Utd have won just two of their last seven games in all competitions (W2, D2, L3), although they are unbeaten in their last eight home league games (W4, D4).

Norwich have taken just eight points from their last 16 league games (W1, D5, L10), whilst taking four points from their last four league games (W1, D1, L2).

Prediction

A FA Cup replay against Wolves on Wednesday was the last thing that Man Utd needed this month, because it means more rotation for winnable games like this which could well provide Norwich with the hope that they need to produce a surprise.

Defence however has been an issue for both teams so I definitely expect goals, particularly given Norwich’s improvement going forward which will be interesting to watch after an excellent display at Preston last weekend.

I therefore am expecting a tough battle but the Canaries do have a poor away record at Old Trafford, so I am going for a late United winner here.

Prediction: Manchester United 2-1 Norwich City

Result: Manchester United 4-0 Norwich City
