Liverpool face another tough test of their title credentials as they welcome Wolves to Anfield on Super Sunday.
A win for Liverpool will see them move 13 points clear of Leicester again, whilst Wolves need victory if they’re to go back to fifth.
Team news
Embed from Getty ImagesJordan Henderson is doubtful for Liverpool after suffering a shin injury during their Boxing Day win over Leicester.
Joel Matip, Nathaniel Clyne (both knee), Dejan Lovren (muscle), Rhian Brewster (knock), Fabinho and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain (both ankle) are all ruled out.
Wolves have no fresh injury concerns with Morgan Gibbs-White still out as he continues to battle a back injury.
Willy Boly is also absent as he continues his recovery from a serious ankle injury suffered at end of October.
Stat Attack
- Liverpool have lost two of their last five meetings against Wolves in all competitions (W3, L2).
- Wolves lost both league meetings last season by 2-0 results, with Sadio Mane netting a brace here in May.
- Neither team is yet to have a penalty in this league fixture in the Premier League era.
- Raul Jimenez has scored two left footed league goals in 19 appearances for Wolves this season, compared to just one in 38 appearances last season.
- Trent Alexander-Arnold is yet to make a clearance off the line for Liverpool this season, having made one such clearance last season.
Prediction
Wolves produced a brilliant fightback to beat Manchester City on Friday but Liverpool were simply magnificent against Leicester on Boxing Day, which will definitely be of concern to Nuno Espirito Santos who will rotate his squad.
I definitely expect Wolves to give this a proper go but given the difference in squad depth and contrast in recovery time, Liverpool will be too strong to not take a comfortable win here.
Prediction: Liverpool 3-0 Wolves
Result: Liverpool 1-0 Wolves
