Liverpool Draw Atletico Madrid in Champions League Last 16

Liverpool will face Atletico Madrid in the Last 16 as they look to continue their UEFA Champions League title defence. 

Jurgen Klopp’s Reds beat Tottenham Hotspur in last season’s final held at Atletico’s Wanda Metropolitano Stadium, so will relish this challenge against last season’s La Liga runners-up. 

Spurs meanwhile will face RB Leipzig as Jose Mourinho looks to clinch a third Champions League title with a third different club. 

Manchester City face a blockbuster tie as they take on Real Madrid in a rematch of their semi-final tie from the 2015-16 season, which Real Madrid edged before going on to lift the trophy in the Final against local rivals – Atletico. 

Frank Lampard’s Chelsea will take on Bayern Munich in a rematch of the 2012 Final, which the Blues won on penalties in Bayern’s Allianz Arena in one of football’s greatest shocks. 

Thomas Tuchel will take PSG to Borussia Dortmund as he faces his former team for the first time, since leaving the club in May 2017 .

Valencia and Barcelona face Italian opposition in Atalanta and Napoli respectively, whilst Lyon will take on Juventus. 

 

Full draw for this season’s Round of 16 in the UEFA Champions League with first legs played on either 18-19 or 25-26 February, whilst the return legs will be held across the midweeks of 10-11 and 17-18 March 2020.
