2019-20 Europa League: Group Stage – Wolves vs Besiktas

Wolves welcome an already eliminated Besiktas to Molineux as they look to top Group K, ahead of the Europa League knockouts starting in February.

Only a win would realistically be enough to send Wolves top but Braga must lose away at Slovan Bratislava for that to happen.

Wolves have no fresh injury concerns to report as Morgan Gibbs-White remains sidelined with a back injury.

Willy Boly is also absent as he continues to recover from an ankle injury whilst Nuno Espirito Santo will rotate his available squad of players.

Besiktas have no fresh injury concerns but Mohamed Elneny could be amongst first-team regulars rested, with Jermain Lens set to start after missing their win over Slovan Bratislava through suspension.

Stat Attack

  • Wolves won their only previous meeting with Besiktas back in October.
  • Besiktas have failed to score in just two of their nine away games in all competitions this season (W3, D1, L5).
  • Wolves have lost just once home game in this competition this season (W4, L1).

Prediction

After digging deep for a draw at Brighton on Sunday, I can understand Nuno Espirito Santo wanting to rotate his squad ahead of a busy month but they could still win the group though.

Besiktas however are doing the same so this could well be a damp squib or a thriller but Wolves seem to specialise in draws of all kinds in recent months, so I am going for a score draw.

Prediction: Wolves 1-1 Besiktas

Result: Wolves 4-0 Besiktas
