2019-20 UEFA Champions League: Group Stage – Bayern Munich vs Tottenham Hotspur

Bayern Munich welcome Tottenham Hotspur to the Allianz Arena as both teams contest their final group game of this season’s Champions League.

Both teams have booked their knockout places with Bayern going through as Group B winners, leaving little to play for other than pride.

Team news

Bayern have no fresh injury concerns although several players including; Benjamin Pavard and Phillipe Coutinho were rested at the weekend so could start here.

Totten will be without midfielders, Tanguy Ndombele and Harry Winks due to respective groin and ankle injuries.

Michel Vorm (calf), Hugo Lloris (elbow), Ben Davies (ankle) and Erik Lamela (hamstring) have also stayed in London to continue their recoveries.

Jose Mourinho meanwhile is resting first team regulars with youngsters including; Japheth Tanganga, Ryan Sessegnon and Troy Parrot all receiving starts instead.

Stat Attack

  • Bayern have won three of five previous meetings with Tottenham (W3, D1, L1).
  • Tottenham have never won away to Bayern Munich, losing two previous such trips by a combined aggregate of 5-1.
  • Phillipe Coutinho has scored just three goals against Tottenham in 12 previous appearances for three different clubs (Inter Milan, Liverpool & Barcelona).

Prediction

After October’s embarrassing 7-2 home defeat under Mauricio Pochettino, Tottenham should be coming here eying revenge but Mourinho has made a sensible decision to rotate his squad and give youngsters some needed experience.

I therefore am expecting them to try and take the game to Bayern but I think that the Bundesliga side will eventually have too much quality here to avoid defeat.

Prediction: Bayern Munich 3-0 Tottenham Hotspur

Result: Bayern Munich 3-1 Tottenham Hotspur
