2019-20 Premier League: Week 16 – Bournemouth vs Liverpool

Bournemouth look to arrest a four match losing streak as they take on Liverpool at the Vitaly Stadium.

Bournemouth could return to the top ten with a win whilst Liverpool look to move 11 points clear of Leicester for at least 24 hours.

Liverpool loanee, Harry Wilson is ineligible for Bournemouth this weekend as per league rules concerning use of on loan players against parent club.

Adam Smith (ankle) and Steve Cook (wrist) are also ruled out alongside long-term absentees; David Brooks (ankle), Junior Stanislas and Charlie Daniels (both knee).

Lloyd Kelly (thigh) however could return but Joshua King (hamstring) and Andrew Surman (knee) are unlikely to feature until next weekend.

Liverpool have no fresh injury concerns after beating Everton in Wednesday’s Merseyside derby.

Fabinho (ankle) is still out along with Joel Matip and Nathaniel Clyne who both have knee injuries.

Stat Attack

  • This is Bournemouth’s 15th meeting with Liverpool in all competitions (W1, D3, L11).
  • In eight previous Premier League meetings, Liverpool have avoided defeat in all but one clash (W6, D1, L1).
  • Bournemouth have lost their last four meetings in which they’ve conceded 14 goals without reply, including a pair of 4-0 home defeats in each of last two seasons.
  • Mohamed Salah has scored four goals in each of his six league appearances for Liverpool against Bournemouth.
  • Bournemouth have scored first in just one of their eight Premier League clashes with Liverpool, doing so in a 2-2 draw at Anfield in April 2017.

Prediction

Bournemouth are playing well but just don’t currently have that edge needed to win games or defend leads, whilst their injury crisis just seems to be worsening which is a serious concern.

Liverpool meanwhile just continue to be unstoppable and with a must-win midweek trip to Salzburg on Tuesday, I can see Jurgen Klopp sticking with the same team who battered Everton on Wednesday.

I therefore can see just one result but it won’t be as embarrassing as what Everton experienced on Wednesday night.

Prediction: Bournemouth 0-3 Liverpool

Result: Bournemouth 0-3 Liverpool
