Having fought back to beat Watford on Saturday, Southampton face another relegation six pointer as they welcome Norwich City to St Mary’s Stadium.
A win for Southampton would lift them out of the relegation zone, providing that Everton loses to Liverpool at Anfield.
Norwich meanwhile will leapfrog the Saints with victory and possibly move level on points with Everton, if the Toffees lose at Liverpool but it would be the Canaries still in the relegation zone on goal difference.
Team news
Embed from Getty ImagesSofiane Boufal faces a late fitness on a toe injury but could start from the bench for Southampton.
Stuart Armstrong meanwhile is still sidelined with a hamstring injury.
Norwich have no fresh injury concerns although Alexander Tettey might miss out with a muscular issue, having missed Sunday’s draw with Arsenal for personal reasons.
Grant Hanley might return from a groin injury at the weekend but Josip Drmic (muscle) and Timm Klose (knee) are still ruled out.
Stat Attack
- Southampton have lost just one of their last five meetings with Norwich in all competitions (W3, D1, L1).
- Norwich have won just one of seven Premier League trips to Southampton (W1, D2, L4).
- Norwich have lost a league high nine games this season, more than any other team.
Prediction
Both teams found their attacking boots at the weekend, which makes this an interesting clash between two solid teams who have found their best momentum at the right time.
I therefore can see Norwich taking the game to Southampton who are more inconsistent at home than they’re away, but this in the end should be a decent draw if both teams turn up.
Prediction: Southampton 1-1 Norwich
Result: Southampton 2-1 Norwich
