2019-20 Premier League: Week 13 – Brighton vs Leicester

Brighton & Hove Albion welcome Leicester City to the Amex for a huge Premier League clash.

Brighton could climb to fifth with victory and other results elsewhere going in their favour, whilst Leicester will stay second with a win and could close the gap to Liverpool down to five points if the Reds lose at Crystal Palace.

Adam Webster could return from an ankle injury for Brighton after missing their last outing.

Leandro Trossard (ankle) is also available but Lewis Dunk is suspended for this match, having collected his fifth against Manchester United a fortnight ago.

Bernardo (knee) and Aaron Connolly (groin) won’t be risked this weekend, whilst Jose Izquierdo remains a long-term absentee with a knee injury.

Leicester have no fresh injury concerns as Matty James remains sidelined with a calf injury.

Form

Brighton have won three of their last five games with all three wins coming at home, although the Seagulls have kept just two clean sheets during that time in victories over Tottenham and Norwich.

Leicester are unbeaten in their last four league games with clean sheets from their last three, in which they conceded none and scored 11 goals in two away trips during this run.

Stat Attack

  • Brighton have taken just one point from four Premier League meetings with Leicester (D1, L3).
  • Jamie Vardy scored once for Leicester in both meetings last season, with both goals coming in the second-half.
  • Leicester’s Wilfred Ndidi has produced a league-high 59 tackles this season.
  • Adam Webster has made the most touches out of Brighton’s summer signings, producing 621 touches ahead of Neal Maupay’s 388 touches.
  • Youri Tielemans has produced 28 shots in 12 appearances for Leicester this season.

Prediction

I am expecting a tough away test for Leicester because Brighton are a difficult team to beat at home.

Dunk however is a huge loss for the Seagulls’ defence if they are to quieten Jamie Vardy, which could be crucial to whether they can get a point.

A draw therefore would be a great result for Brighton but I have a feeling that Leicester will snatch a late winner.

Prediction: Brighton 1-2 Leicester

Result: Brighton 0-2 Leicester
