2019-20 Premier League: Week 11 Roundup

Liverpool remain unbeaten at the Premier League summit as twists and turns continue to unfold throughout the various top-flight battles.

Aston Villa took a shock first-half lead through Trezeguet’s tap in from a 21st minute free-kick, only for Liverpool to snatch a late victory through Andrew Robertson’s header and Sadio Mane’s strike.

Liverpool however are still only six points clear of Manchester City who also came from behind through second-half strikes from Sergio Aguero and Kyle Walker, after a James Ward-Prowse tap-in from Ederson’s fumble gave third-bottom  Southampton a shock early lead.

Leicester and Chelsea remain third and fourth after taking respective away victories against Crystal Palace and rock-bottom Watford.

Arsenal clung onto fifth after a third consecutive 1-1 home draw against Wolves at the Emirates Stadium, as Raul Jimenez’s header cancelled out Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s 50th goal for the Gunners.

Norwich meanwhile stay second-bottom after Leandro Trossard and Shane Duffy sent Brighton ninth with second-half strikes, having come on as substitutes for Pascal Gross and Adam Webster respectively.

Elsewhere, Sheffield United thrashed Burnley in a three goal routing to go sixth and just ahead of Bournemouth on goal difference, after Joshua’s King stunning volley for the Cherries proved the difference against Manchester United.

Everton and Tottenham scrapped their way to a 1-1 draw in a match full of VAR incidents and a freak accident, in which Son Heung-Min was sent off and Andre Gomes suffered a dislocated ankle injury after colliding with Serge Aurier following Son’s challenge.

Finally, Newcastle fended off a late fightback from West Ham to edge a five goal thriller and move four points clear of the drop.
