Off the back of two dominant wins, Leicester City face a tough test as they visit Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park in the opening Super Sunday clash.
Palace will move up to fifth with victory whilst a win for Leicester will see them reclaim third place from Chelsea, who beat Watford on Saturday evening.
Team news
Embed from Getty ImagesVicente Guaita is set to return in goal for Crystal Palace after a fortnight out with a groin injury.
Andros Townsend meanwhile is a doubt with a muscle injury suffered during Sunday’s London Derby at Arsenal.
Connor Wickham and Mamadou Sakho meanwhile are ruled out with undisclosed injuries.
Leicester again have a near full squad available with Matty James (calf) their only absentee.
Form
Crystal Palace enter this match with eight points from their last five games despite conceding in each of their last three, whilst losing one and taking two wins and draws apiece from their five home league games so far this season.
Leicester enter this match with one defeat in their last seven across all competitions, including 14 goals scored and just the two conceded in their last three matches alone.
On their travels, the Foxes have lost two of their last three away league games but James Maddison has scored in his last three away trips in all competitions.
Stat Attack
- Crystal Palace are unbeaten in their last five meetings with Leicester (W4, D1), with Luka Milivojevic scoring for Palace in both meetings last season.
- Palace have kept clean sheets in three of their last five home league games against Leicester.
- Jamie Vardy was the league’s top goalscorer entering this weekend with nine goals.
- Milivojevic has collected a league high six yellow cards so far this season.
- Youri Tielemans has scored in his last three appearances for Leicester in all competitions.
Prediction
If there is a team that Palace didn’t want to face this weekend, it surely has to be Leicester because the Foxes currently look fearsome all over the pitch with little weakness to pick out.
I therefore am expecting a tough game for the Eagles because they need to be constantly aware of where the ball is, given Leicester’s ability to launch fast paced attacks from just about anywhere which will be a challenge to maintain for an entire match.
Palace however have been quite the hoodoo for Leicester in recent seasons, although I am expecting plenty of goals and eventually a crazy but entertaining draw.
Prediction: Crystal Palace 2-2 Leicester City
Result: Crystal Palace 0-2 Leicester City
