Just days after running riot at Southampton, Leicester City face a tough Carabao Cup test as they visit Burton Albion at the Pirelli Stadium.
Burton are looking to claim another Premier League scalp after knocking Bournemouth out last month, whilst Leicester are aiming to reach the Quarter-Finals for a third consecutive season.
Team news
Embed from Getty ImagesBurton have a near full squad available but will be without Lucas Akins, who is suspended after collecting his second yellow card of this competition last month against the Cherries.
Richard Nartey meanwhile is doubtful with a tight hamstring which saw him subbed during Saturday’s goalless draw with Blackpool.
Leicester have a near full squad available with Matty James (calf) their only absentee, although manager – Brendan Rogers will look to rotate his squad before they face Crystal Palace on Sunday.
Stat Attack
- Burton won their only previous League Cup meeting with Leicester, running out 4-2 winners in August 2012 at the King Power Stadium.
- Burton have won five of their last six home games in this competition, including two clean sheets in two League Cup home outings this season against Morecambe and Bournemouth respectively.
- Leicester have never reached the League Cup Quarter-Finals for three consecutive seasons.
Prediction
Having produced such a ruthless display at Southampton on Friday night, anything less than a comfortable win will be nothing short of embarrassing for Leicester.
Burton however has been a frustrating place to visit in Cup competitions since last season, as even Manchester City found out in January so the Foxes need to continue their attacking authority even if the squad is rotated.
I am therefore expecting a closer away game for Leicester than Luton proved to be last month, although they should have enough quality to wear the Brewers down and cruise to a comfortable win.
Prediction: Burton Albion 0-3 Leicester City
Result: Burton Albion 1-3 Leicester City
