2019-20 Premier League: Week Nine – Leicester vs Burnley

Leicester City look to continue their top four bid as they take on fellow Europe chasers, Burnley in a crucial clash at the King Power Stadium.

A win for Leicester will temporary lift them to second whilst Burnley could potentially leapfrog the Foxes into fourth, providing that they win and Chelsea loses to Newcastle United.

James Maddison is set to be available for Leicester after skipping international duty with illness, despite being seen in a Casino when England lost to Czech Republic.

Dennis Praet is also expected to be in the matchday squad despite personal reasons keeping him in Belgium post international duty.

Matty James meanwhile is still sidelined with a calf injury.

Burnley won’t have Johann Berg Gudmundsson available after the winger suffered a hamstring injury on international duty with Iceland.

Jack Cork (shoulder), Erik Pieters (leg) and Ashley Barnes (groin) are however all fit for selection.

Daniel Drinkwater is still absent with an ankle injury.

Form

Leicester have lost two of their last five league games of which both came on the road, whilst their 5-0 win over Newcastle in their last home game was their first clean sheet since the opening weekend.

Burnley are unbeaten in their last four league games but both away trips in that run ended in draws, of which their three away goals across those games all came in the second half.

Prediction

With both teams flying high, this should be an interesting match because I can see both teams going for the win with all out attacking football, particularly given that these teams have never shared two consecutive goalless draws on Leicester’s ground.

Both teams however don’t have much between them because they are both solid teams punching above their weight, which makes a draw a decent bet but I have a feeling that Leicester might edge this game by the tightest of margins.

Prediction: Leicester City 2-1 Burnley

Result: Leicester City 2-1 Burnley
