Wales welcome Croatia to the Cardiff City Stadium in a crunch Group E Euro 2020 qualifying clash.
Depending on what happens between Hungary and Azerbaijan at teatime, Wales could enter this match knowing that a win will lift them into second whilst Croatia look to extend their lead at the top.
Team news
Embed from Getty ImagesWales could be without Kieffer Moore after the Wigan striker picked up a knock in Thursday’s 1-1 draw with Slovakia.
Aaron Ramsey is also doubtful as he continues to struggle with an abductor issue and a possible thigh injury.
Croatia will be without Marcelo Brozovic after the midfielder received his third yellow card in qualifying during their 3-0 home win over Hungary on Thursday.
Chelsea’s Mateo Kovacic could therefore start in Brozovic’s place after coming off the bench in their last outing.
Stat Attack
- Wales are winless in all five previous meetings with Croatia, and have lost their last four clashes (D1, L4).
- This fixture has only been played in Wales once, as Croatia ran out 2-1 winners during qualifying for the 2014 FIFA World Cup.
- Wales are unbeaten in their last nine Euro qualifiers dating back to September 2011 (W7, D2).
Prediction
Wales played well on Thursday but poor defending and a lack of clinical finishing cost them the win, which they cannot afford to repeat here against a Croatian team who will punish any sloppy play and test the keeper from range.
Daniel James however looks troublesome down the left so if he can get more service then I can see it being a point apiece, otherwise I have to go for a Croatia victory given their form over the Welsh.
Prediction: Wales 1-2 Croatia
Result: Wales 1-1 Croatia
