Burnley take on Everton at Turf Moor in a crucial Premier League clash as both teams look to mount a challenge for the top ten.
Burnley could go fifth with a win if other results elsewhere go in their favour, whilst Everton look to move away from the drop.
Team news
Embed from Getty ImagesBurnley will be without Jack Cork due to a small fracture to his shoulder but he is expected to return after the international break.
Danny Drinkwater is also absent with an ankle injury but is on course to be available in a fortnight’s time.
Everton could be without Theo Walcott after he suffered a head injury during their 3-1 defeat to Manchester City last weekend.
Bernard is also doubtful with illness whilst Andre Gomes (ribs) and Jean-Phillipe Gbamin (muscle) are ruled out.
Form
Burnley have lost just one of their last five league outings whilst scoring in six of their seven league games so far, with their only blank coming in a 3-0 home defeat by Liverpool at the end of August.
Everton have won just two of their seven league games so far this season but worryingly they both came at home, with just one point earned on the road with two defeats in their last two away trips.
Stat Attack
- Burnley have won four of their ten Premier League meetings with Everton (W4, L6), of which three of those victories came at Turf Moor.
- Both teams have scored in their last four meetings at Turf Moor.
- Burnley’s Chris Wood has been offside on ten occasions in seven appearances this season.
- Two players from both Burnley (Dwight McNeil & Ben Mee) and Everton (Alex Iwobi & Richarlison) have hit the woodworks once so far this season.
- Burnley have played 503 long balls so far this season and only Sheffield United have produced more with 509 long balls.
Prediction
Turf Moor is always a tough place to visit and with a poor away record as Everton’s, this is going to be a difficult encounter for Marco Silva’s men because Burnley’s varied play is surely going to test the likes of Yerry Mina and Lucas Digne.
My gut feeling is that this won’t be an entertaining match but Burnley should get the job done because Everton just look totally flat on the road this season with no spark to offer much of a challenge.
Prediction: Burnley 2-0 Everton
Result: Burnley 1-0 Everton
