After blowing a two goal lead against Olympiakos a fortnight ago, Tottenham Hotspur look to clinch their first European win of the season as they welcome group leaders – Bayern to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
Victory could send Tottenham top of Group B whilst at least a draw will be enough to keep Bayern at the top of the group.
Team news
Embed from Getty ImagesTottenham have no fresh injury concerns as Giovani Lo Celso and Ryan Sessegnon remain sidelined with respective hip and hamstring injuries.
Ivan Perisic is a doubt for Bayern after he missed their win over Paderborn through illness.
Leon Goretzka (thigh) and Jann Fiete Arp (wrist) are definitely ruled out of the trip to North London.
Stat Attack
- Tottenham have never met Bayern Munich in the Champions League, although they have lost two of four previous meetings in lesser European competitions (W1, D1, L2).
- These teams met in pre-season in the Audi Cup Final, which Spurs won 6-5 on penalties after a 2-2 draw.
- Bayern could equal their longest unbeaten away Champions League run of ten games (October 2012-April 2014) if they can clinch at least a draw here.
Prediction
Spurs were more like their old selves on Saturday as they battled to a brilliant win over Southampton, despite finding themselves under the cosh several times which will stand them in good stead against a strong Bayern team.
If they can do more of the strong attacking stuff that we saw at the weekend and correct those little defensive mistakes, I can see them getting a point here because this Bayern team is difficult to stop.
Prediction: Tottenham Hotspur 1-1 Bayern Munich
Result: Tottenham Hotspur 2-7 Bayern Munich
