After stunning Crystal Palace on penalties, Colchester United will host Tottenham Hotspur in the Third Round of the 2019-20 Carabao Cup.
The Us will face Premier League opposition for the first time since January 2016 when they coincidentally suffered a home defeat to Tottenham, albeit a 4-1 loss in the FA Cup that season.
Defending champions, Manchester City will start their title defence away to Preston North End at Deepdale, whilst Premier League leaders – Liverpool head to MK Dons in a tough encounter as both are just two of several top flight teams drawn away from home.
The Third Round sees two local derbies as Portsmouth host Southampton in what promises to be a fierce South Coast derby, whilst Rochdale visit Old Trafford as they meet Manchester United in a Greater Manchester derby.
Sunderland’s reward for knocking out Burnley in the Second Round is a trip to Bramall Lane, as they look to claim a second top flight scalp in Sheffield United.
Brighton will face Aston Villa in the only all Premier League tie to be drawn in this round.
Ties will be played on the week commencing 23 September.
