Liverpool remain top of the Premier League after a lively Bank Holiday weekend saw contrasting fortunes for various teams.
Joel Matip opened the scoring shortly before half-time with a header before Mohamed Salah netted an early second half brace to secure victory over Arsenal and continue their unbeaten start, despite Lucas Torreira pulling one back late on for the Gunners.
That defeat meant that Arsenal fell to third after Manchester City climbed to second through a 3-1 away win over Bournemouth, in which David Silva marked his 400th club appearance with an assist for Raheem Sterling’s goal, either side of Sergio Aguero’s brace and a Harry Wilson screamer of a free-kick into the top right corner.
Leicester complete the top four after taking their first win of the season at Sheffield United, through Harvey Barnes’ 70th minute winner after Oli McBurnie had briefly cancelled out Jamie Vardy’s opener.

Jordan Ayew gave Palace the lead from a Jeffery Schlupp forward header midway through the first half. United then relentlessly attacked throughout the second half and was awarded late on when Daniel James bent a pass from Anthony Martial beyond Vicente Guaita to restore parity.
That equaliser ultimately was short-lived as Christian Benteke intercepted Paul Pogba and found Patrick van Anholt to play a one-two with Wilfried Zaha before finishing past a fumbling David De Gea to earn Palace their first ever Premier League win over United.

Newcastle stunned Tottenham through Joelinton’s first half strike to earn themselves their first win under Steve Bruce, as they remain second bottom behind Southampton.
Second half goals from Moussa Djenepo and Nathan Redmond against Brighton secured the Saints their first points of the campaign, having seen the Seagulls reduced to 10 men after Florian Andone’s harsh red card for a knee high collision with Yan Valery in the 30th minute.

Wolves earned a third straight league draw after Raul Jimenez’s penalty rescued them a late point against sixth-placed Burnley, who led for much of the match through Ashley Barnes’ 20 yard screamer.
Finally, Aston Villa got their first victory of the season after strikes from Wesley and Anwar El Ghazi clinched a home win over Everton.
