Manchester United look to get back to winning ways as they welcome Crystal Palace to Old Trafford.
Victory could return United to top spot before Liverpool take on Arsenal later on Saturday evening, whilst Palace are still looking for their first win of the season.
Team news
Embed from Getty ImagesAlexis Sanchez could return for Manchester United after spending the past few weeks rebuilding his match fitness, having represented Chile at this summer’s Copa America.
Diogo Dalot however is ruled out until after September’s international break with an injury setback, and joins Timothy Fosu-Mensah and Eric Bailly (both knee) on the sidelines.
Crystal Palace have no fresh injury concerns to report as James Tomkins (groin) and Mamadou Sakho (knee) remain absent with no estimated return dates.
Form
Man Utd are unbeaten after taking a 1-1 draw at Wolves last weekend, having trashed Chelsea 4-0 in their opener.
Crystal Palace are looking for not only their first win but goal after losing 1-0 at Sheffield United last weekend, having endured a goalless draw in their opener against Everton.
Stat Attack
- Manchester United are yet to lose a Premier League fixture against Crystal Palace (W16, D4).
- Three of their four Premier League draws with Palace have ended goalless.
- Now departed Marouane Fellaini and Romelu Lukaku are the last two United players to score more than once against Palace, as Fellaini netted twice in a 4-0 win in September 2017 whilst Lukaku had scored in three of their last four meetings.
- United’s Aaron Wan-Bissaka has made the most tackles in the opening two matches of this season, producing 15 tackles.
- Palace’s Vicente Guaita has made three punches in their opening two matches, more than any other goalkeeper.
Prediction
This should be a fun encounter because when Palace play their attacking best, they are fantastic but I can see United ripping them apart on the counter in a similar way as saw against Chelsea in their opening home game.
Ultimately I can’t see a repeat of that result here though but should be a comfortable home win for the Red Devils.
Prediction: Manchester United 2-0 Crystal Palace
Result: Manchester United 1-2 Crystal Palace
