2019-20 Premier League: Week Two – Wolverhampton Wanderers vs Manchester United

Wolverhampton Wanderers kicks off the first Monday Night Football of this Premier League season, as they welcome Manchester United to Molineux.

Wolves can climb into the top nine with victory whilst Man Utd will go top if they take the win.

Wolves have no injury concerns but Nuno Espirito Santo is set to ring the changes from Thursday’s Europa League win over FC Pyunik, with Rui Patricio, Raul Jimenez and Diogo Jota set to start this match.

Man Utd have no fresh injury concerns as Alexis Sanchez continues to regain match fitness, after only returning to training a couple of weeks ago but won’t be in contention at Molineux

Eric Bailly and Timothy Fosu-Mensah both remain long-term absentees with knee injuries.

Form

Wolves enter this match on a five match unbeaten run in all competitions but drew 0-0 in their opening league game at Leicester last weekend.

Man Utd come into this match off the back of a 4-0 home win over Chelsea, in which Marcus Ashford scored either side of an Anthony Martial tap-in before Daniel James netted their fourth on his debut for the Red Devils.

Prediction

Wolves produced a solid performance against Leicester but will need to be absolutely perfect against a Man Utd side who ruthlessly dismantled Chelsea last weekend all over the pitch.

Espirito Santo’s men however seem to come alive against the top teams and off the back of beating United twice here towards the end of last season, confidence will be high but I can’t see Wolves managing to do a calendar year treble over Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s Red Devils.

Prediction: Wolverhampton Wanderers 1-1 Manchester United

Result: Wolverhampton Wanderers 1-1 Manchester United
