Southampton welcome Huddersfield Town to St Marys in their final game of this Premier League season.
Both clubs have changed managers during this season with only the Saints surviving as both teams now prepare for next season.
Team news
Embed from Getty ImagesSouthampton have no fresh injury concerns as Maya Yoshida returns from illness, which kept him out of last weekend’s defeat at West Ham.
Alex McCarthy (knock), Jannik Vestergaard (groin) and Michael Obafemi (thigh) are all ruled out.
Ben Hamer could return in goal for Huddersfield after overcoming a knock which has kept him out for the last month.
Laurent Depoitre (foot) and Mathias Jorgensen (illness) are also available but Erik Durm is ruled out with a muscular injury.
Form
Southampton have taken just two points from their last four matches but have avoided defeat in four of their last five home games.
Huddersfield ended an eight match losing run last time out with a 1-1 home draw against Manchester United, although they are winless in last seven away games since a goalless draw at Cardiff in early January.
Stat Attack
- Southampton have are unbeaten in three Premier League meetings with Huddersfield (W1, D2).
- Six different players have scored across those three Premier League meetings.
- Jonas Lossl have made 11 more throw outs than the 92 which he managed last season.
- Southampton are one of three clubs to have scored a league high 13 goals from outside the box. Manchester City and Tottenham are the other two teams who have netted that amount from beyond the 18 yard box.
- Aaron Mooy has played two through balls for Huddersfield this season unlike Southampton’s Stuart Armstrong who is yet to do so.
Prediction
Huddersfield have shown plenty of spirit in recent games but their away form however is diabolical and if Southampton are clinical, I can see just one result here.
Prediction: Southampton 2-0 Huddersfield Town
Jake predicts: Southampton 2-0 Huddersfield Town
Result: Southampton 1-1 Huddersfield Town
