Phil Neville announces England squad for 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup

England Lionesses manager, Phil Neville has announced his 23 woman squad for this summer’s FIFA World Cup in France, which commences on June 7th. 

12 players who featured at the 2015 tournament in Canada have been called up for next month’s tournament, including Steph Houghton MBE who is playing in her third World Cup and second as captain of the team. 

Demi Stokes, Georgia Stanway and Beth Mead are amongst 11 Lionesses who will be making their World Cup debuts this summer. 

In an unusual move, the squad selection was trickled out throughout the morning through various announcements by famous stars from the Duke of Cambridge to actress, Emma Watson to various football stars including; Jordan Pickford, Alex Scott MBE and Kelly Smith MBE

England will now play two friendlies against Denmark and New Zealand later this month before heading for the World Cup, where they face Scotland in their opening Group D match on June 9, with games against Argentina and Japan to then follow on 14th then 19th .
