Manchester City have returned to the league summit after a dramatic week of Premier League action, as various battles continue to twist and turn.

Phil Foden’s header proved the difference over Tottenham on Saturday to send City top until Sunday night, when Liverpool reclaimed the lead after seeing off survival chasing Cardiff through Georgino Wijnaldum and James Milner.

The Citizens then emerged victorious in midweek when they beat Manchester United 2-0 at Old Trafford, moving them a single point clear of Liverpool with three games left for both teams.

Spurs meanwhile remain third after winning their game in hand over Brighton but three points clear of Chelsea after a feisty 2-2 draw ended with Maurizio Sarri sent to the stands in injury time,

Arsenal endured a torrid week as they twice blew opportunities to go fourth after seeing their 16 match unbeaten home run ended by Crystal Palace, before being thrashed 3-1 at Wolves on Wednesday night, who had been held by Brighton to a goalless draw on Saturday.

United also suffered a miserable week after losing 4-0 at Everton before defeat by Man City left their top four hopes hanging by a thread.

Leicester’s hopes for a top seven finish took a huge knock after Harvey Barnes snatched a late point for them at West Ham in an entertaining 2-2 draw.

Finally, Fulham picked up their first away league win of the season after Aleksandar Mitrovic’s penalty proved the difference against Bournemouth.
