2018-19 Premier League: Tottenham Hotspur vs Crystal Palace

Tottenham Hotspur Stadium finally opens its doors as Tottenham Hotspur meet Crystal Palace in a huge Premier League clash.

Victory will return Spurs to third after Manchester United blew their chance in a 2-1 loss to Wolves, whilst Crystal Palace can move 11 points clear of the drop if they take the win.

Harry Winks is available for Tottenham after overcoming a groin injury as four players will have to wait for their debut at the new stadium.

Eric Dier (hip), Fernando Llorente (concussion), Erik Lamela and Serge Aurier (hamstring) are all ruled out for Spurs.

Crystal Palace have a full squad available minus Mamadou Sakho who remains sidelined with a knee injury.

Stat Attack

  • Tottenham are on a seven match winning league run against Crystal Palace but have lost both FA Cup meetings across their last nine meetings (W7, L2).
  • Palace haven’t scored on their last five league trips to Spurs, with last four such clashes being lost by 1-0 results.
  • Kieran Trippier, Juan Foyth and Lucas Moura are the only three Spurs players to start both meetings with Palace this season, of which both came at Selhurst Park.
  • One more right-footed goal would see Harry Kane equal his 13 goals from last season scored with his right foot.
  • Luka Milivojevic has already matched his ten goals from last season and is yet to come off from the bench in 30 appearances this season for Palace.

Prediction

This is unchartered terrority for Tottenham because they are going to have to adapt quickly to their new surroundings after a painful away defeat to Liverpool on Sunday.

Should they struggle and Palace can treat this like a neutral venue then you have to fancy the Eagles to get the win if are clinical.

I am however have a feeling that Spurs will start life at their new stadium in the same that they ended their White Hart Lane era with a home win.

Prediction: Tottenham Hotspur 2-1 Crystal Palace

Jake predicts: Tottenham Hotspur 2-1 Crystal Palace

Result: Tottenham Hotspur 2-0 Crystal Palace
