Having drawn 0-0 in the first leg at Anfield, Bayern Munich welcome Liverpool to the Allianz Arena as both sides look to progress to the Champions League Quarter-Finals.

Bayern are without suspended duo of Joshua Kimmich and Thomas Muller for this clash.

Arjen Robben (calf) and Corentin Tolisso (knee) are also ruled out for Bayern, who welcome back Kingsley Coman and David Alaba from recent injuries.

Naby Keita is ruled out for Liverpool after a minor injury prevented him from travelling with the squad.

Fullbacks, Trent Alexander-Arnold (back) and James Milner (muscle) both travelled but could face late fitness tests. Alexander-Arnold was subbed against Burnley on Sunday as a precaution whilst Milner sat the match out.

Joe Gomez (ankle) and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain (knee) remain sidelined, although the latter briefly featured at weekend for the U23s but was subbed with a thigh niggle.

Stat Attack

  • Two of Liverpool’s three trips to Bayern finished 1-1 and all three meetings at Allianz Arena were second legs.
  • Liverpool have lost just one second leg of their last five Champions League knockout ties, coming in their semi-final second leg last season at AS Roma (W2, D2, L1).
  • Mohamed Salah has scored three Champions League goals so far this season, compared to six this time last season.

Prediction

Liverpool need to be ruthless here because Bayern are a difficult side to beat at home with just four defeats in last two seasons, of which two came in this competition at Real Madrid’s hands.

Jurgen Klopp’s side however are yet to avoid defeat on their travels this season in Europe, so I can see them trying to grind out a draw here.

If they do that and get a goal, it will be enough if the defence holds up for them to advance via away goals.

Prediction: Bayern Munich 1-1 Liverpool (Liverpool to advance on away goals)

Result: Bayern Munich 1-3 (Liverpool win 3-1 on aggregate)
