2018-19 Premier League: Week 30 – Liverpool v Burnley

Super Sunday kicks off with a huge Premier League clash as Liverpool meet Burnley at Anfield.

After Manchester City moved four points clear with victory over Watford, Liverpool know three points are pivotal if they are to keep pace in the title race.

Burnley meanwhile can move five points clear of the relegation zone with victory, although they would remain part of a six team fight for survival.

Dejan Lovren and James Milner could feature for Liverpool after overcoming  respective thigh and muscle injuries.

Joe Gomez (ankle) won’t be risked until after the international break as Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain remains sidelined until further notice.

Burnley have no fresh injury concerns with the trio of Steven Defour (calf), Aaron Lennon (knee) and Jonathan Walters (ruptured Achilles) all ruled out.

Form

Liverpool enter this unbeaten in their last nine across all competitions but have drawn five of their last seven.

At home, the Reds are yet to lose with 12 wins and two draws from 14 league matches at Anfield.

Burnley will be keen to get back to winning ways losing their last two matches, having been on an eight match unbeaten run beforehand.

On their travels, the Clarets have drawn blank just twice in their last six league games with Ashley Barnes scoring in same away games as Chris Wood.

Stat Attack

  • Liverpool are unbeaten in eight of last nine meetings with Burnley (W7, D1, L1).
  • Both sides have netted in each of last four league meetings.
  • Liverpool’s eight goals in last three meetings have all come from eight different players.
  • Burnley’s three goalless draws this season all came away from Turf Moor.
  • Liverpool are on a four match league run of clean sheets, their longest run this season.
  • Burnley’s Tom Heaton has already made 36 aves in 10 appearances compared to just eight in four apperances last season.

Prediction

Burnley will be frustrated to have lost their last two games because Liverpool won’t be an easy team to take points from.

I therefore am struggling to see Burnley getting much unless play on counter as this should be a comfortable Liverpool win.

Prediction: Liverpool 2-0 Burnley

Jake predicts: Liverpool 2-0 Burnley

Result: Liverpool 4-2 Burnley
