2018-19 Premier League: Week 27 – Friday

Friday Night Football sees a rare double dose of Premier League action as the relegation battle takes centre stage.

Cardiff meet Watford at the Cardiff City Stadium as they look to move further away from the drop, whilst Fulham head to West Ham needing victory to keep pace with the Bluebirds.

Cardiff will be coming into this game with stronger confidence than normal after collecting back-to-back wins for first time this season.

One positive from those wins is the way that they attacked the game because this was a more organised and clinical Cardiff side than usual, although Watford are more dangerous in that sense.

The Hornets are also flying with one defeat in last ten across all competitions but every result was a grinder, which highlights the solidness of this squad in that they know how to control games to get results.

I therefore can see a decent game here between two rock hard sides but home wins is what Cardiff need, so fancy them to snatch it at the death.

Prediction: Cardiff City 2-1 Watford

Jake predicts: Cardiff City 0-0 Watford

Result: Cardiff City 1-5 Watford

Both sides are in desperate need of points if either are to achieve their targets because the Hammers should be battling for seventh, whilst Fulham aim for survival.

It’s difficult to see where West Ham are going wrong because they do everything right in attack but their clinical edge and defence has dipped since 2019 arrived.

If they used their fortnight off wisely to finesse those issues then I can see a dangerous home side here, particularly against a Fulham side who have the third worst defence in England’s top four divisions.

Add in the Cottagers’ dire away form with just two points earned on the road, which is diabolical then I can see one result coming here.

Prediction: West Ham United 2-0 Fulham

Jake predicts: West Ham United 0-0 Fulham

Result: West Ham United 3-1 Fulham
