The Baggies are now a point clear ahead of Leeds, Boro and Sheffield United who remain fourth after a 3-2 win at Millwall.

Norwich and Brentford round out the top six, as the Canaries beat Wigan through a late Mario Vrancic penalty whilst the Bees could only draw 2-2 at home to Reading.

Swansea sit just outside of play off spots in seventh after dishing out a three goal battering to QPR, above the Lactics and Derby who lost at Bolton Wanderers.

Elsewhere, Nottingham Forest made it one loss in ten after drawing 2-2 at Blackburn Rovers. Lewis Grabban initially gave Forest the lead but goals from Adam Armstrong and Bradley Dack soon had Rovers ahead before Grabban equalised through a penalty.

Rotherham blew an early second half two goal lead after Tom Ince and Bojan hit back for the Potters.

Finally, Bristol City and Aston Villa played out a 1-1 draw on Friday night after Josh Brownhill’s opener for the Robins was cancelled out by a Birkir Bjarnason header in first half stoppage time.
