2018-19 Premier League: Week Seven – Sunday

With Ryder Cup action being Sky’s main focus this weekend, we instead have a low key Super Sunday as Cardiff City meet Burnley at the Cardiff City Stadium.

Last weekend saw both teams experience contrasting fortunes as Cardiff got hi-fived by Manchester City, whilst Burnley thumped Bournemouth 4-0, so will we see more of same here?

Cardiff will be without right-back, Lee Peltier after he dislocated his shoulder last weekend in the 5-0 defeat to Manchester City.

Midfielder, Aron Gunnarsson is still sidelined with a knee injury.

Burnley could hand Steven Defour a role here after making his first appearance of season in midweek at Burton Albion.

Robbie Brady (knee) and Ben Gibson (hernia) are still absent for the Clarets.

Form

Cardiff City have lost four of their opening six league matches, drawing the other two 0-0.

In last three matches alone, they have conceded 12 goals whilst scoring three and currently sit joint bottom alongside Huddersfield Town.

Having taken one draw from their opening five games (D1, L4) despite scoring three goals, Burnley won last time out to clinch their first win of season as Ashley Barnes moved joint top scorer with James Tarkowski after picking up a brace.

The Clarets however are yet win away from Turf Moor this season domestically and have only scored three goals on the road in all domestic competitions.

Prediction

Cardiff need to win home games like these if they’re to stay up and with Burnley reeling from an embarrassing Cup exit at Burton in midweek, I can see this being tougher than they might expect.

A draw wouldn’t surprise me but Cardiff will have the fresher legs after not playing in midweek, which will hand them the edge here.

Prediction: Cardiff City 2-1 Burnley

Jake predicts: Cardiff City 1-0 Burnley

Result: Cardiff City 1-2 Burnley
