2017-18 UEFA Champions League Semi Finals 1st legs: Bayern Munich vs Real Madrid

Bayern Munich welcome defending champions Real Madrid to the Allianz Arena for the first leg of their UEFA Champions League semi-finals.

Past meetings at this stage have produced some classic thrillers so expect plenty of fireworks in this clash.

Team news

Bayern Munich will hand David Alaba a late fitness test after the Austrian international sat out training with a thigh strain. Should he be declared unfit, Rafinha is expected to replace him in defence.

Midfielder, Corentin Tolisso is also a doubt with a shin injury.

Arturo Vidal is sidelined for rest of season with a knee injury.

Real Madrid have no injury concerns to report.

Form

In the fortnight gap between the Quarter and Semi Finals, Bayern Munich won both of their domestic games 8-1 on aggregate.

Their joint top scorers from those two games are Sandro Wagner and Robert Lewandowski with two goals each, although the latter scored once in second half of those two matches.

Since beating Juventus in the last eight, Real Madrid have won and drawn one of their two domestic games.

Prediction

We should definitely see a thriller here given that Ronaldo and Lewandowski have scored 19 goals at this stage between them.

In end, Bayern probably need a draw if going to stand any chance at the Santiago Bernabeu next week.

I however can see Real taking a slim advantage home with them given Ronaldo’s form.

Prediction: Bayern Munich 1-2 Real Madrid

Result: Bayern Munich 1-2 Real Madrid
