2017-18 Champions League QFs: First Legs – Tuesday

Now that club action has resumed, UEFA Champions League action is back with the Quarter Finals.

Only two English sides made it through to this stage and meet on Wednesday, meaning that Tuesday’s headline is Juventus vs Real Madrid.

These two teams met in last season’s final with Real winning 4-1 so is this Juventus’ time for revenge?

Juventus vs Real Madrid

Can Cristiano Ronaldo keep up his record of scoring in every Champions League game for Real Madrid this season?

To set up this tie, Juventus had to battle past Tottenham Hotspur whilst Real Madrid breezed past PSG.

Juventus are missing Medhi Benatia and Miralem Pjanic through suspension whilst their Spanish opposition will have a fresh squad, having rested several players for their 3-0 away win over Las Palmas on Saturday.

In their previous 19 European meetings, Real has the edge with nine wins to Juventus’ eight and two matches were drawn.

Juventus haven’t lost at home in Europe since April 2013 whilst Real have suffered two defeats in last five European away games.

With Cristiano Ronaldo fit and currently having scored in every game this season in this competition, I fancy Real to go for it here but be pegged back to a score draw.

Prediction: Juventus 1-1 Real Madrid

Result: Juventus 0-3 Real Madrid

Sevilla vs Bayern Munich

Sevilla will be aiming to cause another giant killing here to back up their stunning performance against Manchester United, in round of 16.

Bayern Munich however will be tough opposition after thrashing Besiktas 8-1 on aggregate.

Both sides come into this off the back of contrasting performances in league games at weekend.

Bayern thumped Borussia Dortmund 6-0 whilst Sevilla blew a 2-0 lead over Barcelona late on to draw 2-2.

This game is however a blank state because there is no previous history between these teams, so expect a tight battle.

Sevilla are unbeaten at home this season in Europe, winning their first two before drawing last two – albeit against English opposition.

Bayern meanwhile lost their first away game at PSG but won their three away European games since.

Given Bayern’s quality, Sevilla need a win here if are to stand any chance of making last four and sadly I can’t see that or a draw coming here.

Prediction: Sevilla 0-2 Bayern Munich

Result: Sevilla 1-2 Bayern Munich
