This weekend’s EFL action kicks off at The Den as Millwall host promotion chasing Cardiff City in the Sky Bet Championship.
Team News
Millwall boss, Neil Harris could name Tim Cahill amongst the substitutes as the Australian continues to build up match fitness.
Byron Webster (knee) and Aidan O’Brien (ankle) are both ruled out of this match.
Harry Toffolo and Ben Marshall could make their debuts here.
Cardiff are without; Craig Bryson, Lee Peltier and Matt Connolly for this game.
The trio however are nearly back to match fitness, so could feature from next weekend onwards.
Aron Gunnarsson however is still a month away from returning to action after an ankle injury.
Joe Bennett is back in contention after serving a one match ban last time out.
Form
Millwall enter this game off the back of a shock FA Cup exit at Rochdale in midweek.
League wise, they have had a solid start to 2018 after losing at Norwich on New Year Day.
Since then, they have gone unbeaten and taken eight out of a possible 12 points, leaving them 14th in the table and 11 points above the relegation zone.
Cardiff City had a demoralising festive period but have recovered to take seven points from last three league games.
During that run, they have scored eight goals and conceded once.
Stat Attack
- Three of the last five meetings at Millwall have ended in draws with the Lions winning and losing one apiece.
- Since a 3-3 draw in March 2011, there have only been four goals in this fixture from seven meetings.
- Cardiff have a (W7 D7 L14) record from 28 league trips to London this decade.
Prediction
Both teams have been in strong form as of late but this fixture hasn’t seen many goals as of late.
I therefore am expecting a surprise here but another draw.
Prediction: Millwall 2-2 Cardiff City
Result: Millwall 1-1 Cardiff City
