Norwich vs Middlesbrough

This Saturday sees Boro make the trip down to Carrow Road as they take on Norwich in the Sky Bet Championship.

After a draw in their last game at home against Sheffield Wednesday, the visitors will be hoping to get all three points in a crucial game for Tony Pulis’ Middlesbrough side.

The Canaries however, will be hoping they can do the double over Boro after beating them 1-0 earlier in the season thanks to an early goal from James Maddison.

Team news

New signings, Jack Harrison, Mo Besic and Matthew Craine will be pushing for starts after joining the club in January.

Both Besic and Craine joined on deadline day and the pair will be hopping they can start after both have found game time to come hard this season for their respective clubs.

Jack Harrison is expected to make his debut after Patrick Bamford put in a disappointing performed in midweek.

Rudy Gestede will also be pushing for a start after he impressed coming off the bench against Sheffield Wednesday.

Norwich on the other hand have no fresh injury concerns and are likely to start the game unchanged.

Transfer window thoughts

The transfer window will go down as a successful one for Daniel Farke’s side after he managed to obtain the services of his star player, Maddison.

On the transfer window just gone Daniel Farke said:

“It is important right now we continue to plan for next season,

“We have earned so much money in the transfer window and Stuart Webber has done an outstanding job in these two transfer windows.

“From a financial point of view that was so important for the club.

“If you look at what other clubs can spend, in terms of transfer fees and salaries, then you don’t have to speak about promotion.

“But in the second half of this season we have played six games so far and taken 13 points.

“That is a good average and we are in a brilliant shape.

“Now we have the 40 points we do not have to be concerned about relegation or what might happen if we were to lose two games in a row.”

Both sides go into this game looking to recapture their best form.

Boro are without a win in their last two and sit 8th in the table, whereas their opponents this weekend have been inconsistent this season and find themselves 13th in the table, despite winning their last game 1-0 against Brentford.

Boro on the other hand were held to a draw in their last game against Sheffield Wednesday.

Tony Pulis’ side had multiple chances to win the game but couldn’t get the ball in the back of the net past Joe Wildsmith in the Wednesday goal.

The Boro manager will be hoping his side can put in a better performance for the game against Norwich, otherwise his dreams of getting Boro in the playoffs will be slowly fading away.

Stat Attack

  • In Middlesbrough’s last two games against Brighton and Sheffield Wednesday they’ve had a combined total of 37 shots on goal, failing to score in either game.

I can see this one going down as another draw.

I think Norwich will frustrate Middlesbrough and with goals looking hard to come by for Boro I don’t think they’ll be able to find one here.

Prediction: Norwich 0-0 Middlesbrough

Result: Norwich 1-0 Middlesbrough
