Jordan Henderson could return after Jurgen Klopp rested him during Wednesday’s 7-0 home win over Spartak Moscow.

Everton are expected to recall several first team starters, who were rested against Apollon Limassol on Thursday night.

Phil Jagielka missed that game with injury but has recovered so could feature.

Sam Allardyce
Sam Allardyce will return to the dugout after a medical appointment kept him away from Thursday’s trip to Apollon Limassol.

Manager, Sam Allardyce missed Thursday’s trip to Cyprus but is definitely back in the dugout this weekend.

Reds rule!!!

Since the Premier League was formed, this fixture has been very competitive with Liverpool winning 21 of the 48 meetings.

18 of those meetings have ended in draws whilst Everton have won just nine.

The Reds are unbeaten in their last 19 Merseyside derby league clashes at Anfield winning ten and drawing nine.

You have to go back to 27th September 1999 for the last Toffees win on Liverpool’s home turf, in any competition.

Performance lies in attack

Both teams have struggled defensively meaning that their attack could be key this weekend.

Unlike other games this weekend, the following per game averages table covers the whole season so far for both teams.

Per game average Liverpool Everton
Corners 5.93 3.6
Fouls 9.47 13.2
Shots 17.67 10.07
Shots on Target 6.67 3.33
Goals 2.2 1.27

* Data found at Footstats.co.uk

Liverpool definitely look the stronger side with more attacks going forward and a better goal average. That is despite wasting an average of 4.47 on target attempts.

They are also more disciplined fouls wise, with 3.73 less fouls than Everton have  managed.

That suggests Liverpool will certainly look to dominate this match if can match those averages.

Prediction

Without a doubt, has to be Liverpool looking at those averages.

Prediction: Liverpool 3-0 Everton

Jake predicts: Liverpool 1-1 Everton

Result: Liverpool 1-1 Everton
