Big boys delight

Today we see two teams who will be fighting at the top end of the table against two sides who will more than likely be challenging to stay in this. In this super Sundays lunch time kick off we see Spurs face Newcastle and later on in the day we see Man United face West Ham.

Newcastle vs Spurs

Spurs go into the game against newly promoted Newcastle without making a summer signing and selling one of their star players from last season, Kyle Walker, to title rivals Manchester City for £50m.

Newcastle on the other hand have also had a what can only be described as a poor transfer window as well.

The club have failed to strengthen as much as manager Rafa Benitez would like and despite bringing in Jacob Murphy from Norwich for around £12m the Spanish boss isn’t satisfied with the lack of money his team has spent.

Last time out

The last time these two sides met already relegated Newcastle beat Spurs 5-1.

Newcastle will be hoping for more of the same today where as Spurs will be hoping they don’t repeat that performance which ultimately cost them second place that season.

I expect Spurs to pick up all three points today but it won’t be easy, Newcastle will be up for this game in front of their home fans and will give Spurs a real game.

Prediction: Newcastle 1-2 Spurs

James predicts Newcastle 2-1 Spurs

Result: Newcastle 0-2 Spurs

Manchester United vs West Ham

After a successful transfer window so far Man United will be hoping their new signings will transfer success onto the pitch.

After splashing out the cash on Romelu Lukaku for a British record transfer fee of £90m they will be hoping the former Everton man will deliver on the pitch.

This season I can see United challenging right at the top but think Champions League commitments will ultimately have an effect on Jose Mourinho’s side.

Like their opponents today West Ham have also had a very good transfer window.

Signings of former Man United striker Hernandez for £16m from Bayer Leverkusen and Joe Hart on loan from Man City are signings not to be looked down upon.

For this season however I can see West Ham struggling, despite making some shrewd signings I still think they lack that extra bit of quality to push up into those top 8 places and can see them having another season similar to the one they had last season.

I can only see one winner for today’s game and that’s the way of the home side.

West Ham will be a tough opposition to face but I Man United will just have that extra bit of quality needed to break West Ham down and once confidence gets going in this Man United side I can see them being a real force to reckoned with.

Prediction: Man United 1-0 West Ham

James predicts Man United 2-0 West Ham

Result: Man United 4-0 West Ham
