Who’s off to Wembley?

The 2016-17 Sky Bet League Two play offs are delicately poised after two thrilling first legs with Wembley on horizon.

Luton look to overturn a 3-2 deflict at home to Blackpool, whilst Carlisle head to Exeter looking to make it two wins there in a fortnight.

Exeter vs Carlisle

Exeter just need a draw at minimum and they are off to Wembley on goal difference.

Carlisle however are unbeaten against the Grecians this season, having won both regular season fixtures 3-2 before their epic 3-3 draw.

The first leg saw plenty of shoddy defending yet brilliant goals, making this game even more unpredictable to call.

One thing for certain, both teams MUST leave everything on the pitch, if they want a bank holiday weekend at Wembley.

Jason Kennedy is one Carlisle player who will want to make Wembley, thus edging closer to his target of getting the club promoted for himself and the departed Charlie Wyke.

Despite dipping between February – March, I expect the Cumbrians to get the job done at St James’ Park in another thriller.

Prediction: Exeter 2-3 Carlisle United

Result: Exeter 3-2 Carlisle United (Exeter win 6-5 on aggregate)

Luton vs Blackpool

Luton come into this match on the back foot after losing at Bloomfield Road on Sunday.

Blackpool themselves will be wary of how challenging Kenilworth Road is, having lost nine of their last ten trips there.

The Hatters rested a key man in Jack Marriott for the first leg, so expect to see him potentially turn the tie upside down.

In terms of play off records, Luton are yet to win a play off match, the Tangerines however have four victories from their last five away legs in the play offs.

There should be plenty of attacking intent on show here from both sides.

Danny Hylton has scored eight goals in his last ten home games for Luton.

Blackpool’s Mark Cullen has however scored five goals in his four appearances for the visitors.

Its tough to make a prediction here given the quality up front for both sides. Blackpool however have a more experienced manager in Gary Bowyer, so expect them to sneak through on aggregate.

Prediction: Luton Town 1-1 Blackpool

Result: Luton Town 3-3 Blackpool (Blackpool win 6-5 on aggregate)
