Liverpool vs Burnley

Away from the FA Cup, there is one final Premier League match this weekend as Liverpool host Burnley at Anfield.

Burnley might be winless away from home but have recently started to find that away magic. Could their recent away performances finally deliver three precious points as they scrap away for a top ten finish?

Team News

Liverpool will be without Jordan Henderson for a third consecutive match.

Daniel Sturridge is still MIA with a hip injury whilst Roberto Firmino and Dejan Lovren are doubts.

The Clarets are without Steven Defour and Johann Berg Gudmundsson again. Goalkeeper, Tom Heaton will be back in goal after illness ruled him out of the away defeat to Swansea last weekend.

Reds to discover consistency?

After a poor start to 2017 in the league, Liverpool have started to get back to winning ways at home.

Their last two home matches have seen them see off Tottenham and Arsenal but Burnley is an entirely different team to those above the Reds’.

The Reds have struggled lately against those who are below them in the Premier League table.

Burnley can go to Anfield with this in mind and aim to get a result.

If they play like they did at the Liberty Stadium, the Clarets should easily rip open a weak Liverpool defence and nab a couple of goals.

On the attack, Jurgen Klopp’s men have been exceptional going forwards with pace.

If they can make a lively start then we could have a proper game on our hands with the visitors sitting back and soaking up the pressure.

Burnley’s defence has been impressive against marquee teams and here will be no different.

You would have to fancy Liverpool to win here given their Premier League record against Burnley (W4 L1). Their last meeting came in August at Turf Moor and saw Burnley emerge as 2-0 victors.

Sean Dyche’s side have however shown massive improvements on the road in recent weeks.

If they play like they did at Swansea then at least a draw won’t be impossible. Their defence will have to be mentally switched on throughout the whole match for a change away from home.

Given how both teams are struggling with their home and away forms respectively, a draw here will be the most logical result.

Prediction: Liverpool 2-2 Burnley

Result: Liverpool 2-1 Burnley
