Tuesday’s Champions League English club predictions

The next round of Champions League fixtures are upon us with Leicester and Tottenham in action tonight before Arsenal and Manchester City take centre stage tomorrow,

Leicester City vs Club Brugge

This game represents a redemption opportunity for Leicester following Saturday’s appalling performance at Watford.

The Foxes come into this clash having not conceded a goal in the Champions League yet, this season. They will however have to do without Kasper Schmeichel, who has been a rock in front of goal this season against the European teams.

Leicester’s two home Champion League matches have ended in 1-0 wins for the Premier League champions.  I have a feeling that they will get more than the pair of one goal home wins tonight.

Prediction: Leicester 2-0 Club Brugge

Result: Leicester 2-1 Club Brugge

AS Monaco vs Tottenham Hotspur

Tottenham need to look at this game as a do or die match because defeat will condemn them to Europa League knockouts at best.

Saturday’s performance against West Ham was average with plenty of defensive errors. They will need to tidy the defence up with Radamel Falcao back on form for the Principality based club ready to pounce and send them home.

Having Harry Kane back will help boost morale and if he can rediscover his pre injury form, he could be the light that Spurs need for the last two group stage matches in order to progress to the knockout stages.

Monaco on the other hand, will be wanting to get their place in the last 16 booked before the final round of group fixtures. Either way, Spurs will need at least one point but a win would surely put them in pole position to qualify for the knockouts.

Bayer Leverkusen’s draw in Russia offers an opportunity for the Lilywhites to seize the moment and force a straight shootout between the French and German sides in a fortnight’s time as long as Spurs win tonight then at Wembley against the Moscow based side.

Prediction: Monaco 1-2 Tottenham

Result: Monaco 2-1 Tottenham
