Bromley have appointed Karl Robinson as their new manager in their bid to secure League One survival.
Robinson’s appointment came two weeks after a “mutual termination” of Andy Woodman’s contract following a difficult start to the season, which left the Ravens sat in the relegation zone although they have since slipped to bottom of the table on 31 October after a 3-2 loss at Wigan.
Robinson consequently has inherited a team that sits three points from safety, having scored 13 goals and conceded 33 goals in just 13 league matches this season.
The 46-year-old’s debut as Bromley manager will take place at home on Saturday 7 November as the Ravens host League Two strugglers, Rotherham United at CopperJax Community Stadium in the first round of the 2026-27 FA Cup, with kick-off scheduled for 3pm GMT.
Speaking about his latest opportunity, Robinson explained that he is keen to build on Woodman’s success and lead the club forward into the future.
“What Robin, the board, and everyone associated with the Ravens have built over recent years is remarkable.
“There is an energy around the CopperJax Community Stadium, and my job is to take that momentum and deliver a brand of front-foot, winning football that makes our supporters proud.
“We are here to compete, raise standards, and push this club forward in League One every single day.”
Owner and Chairman, Robin Stainton-Gleaves added that Robinson has the experience needed to survive in League One
“Karl brings an elite level of experience, tactical acumen, and a proven track record of competing at the sharp end of League One.
“His relentless energy matches our ambition perfectly, and we are unified in our vision to drive this football club forward into an exciting new era.
“I led a full recruitment process, which began the day after our previous manager’s departure. From the outset, my intention was to find someone who had worked at this level and had the experience and qualities to take Bromley Football Club on the next stage of its journey.
“It was important to take the time to work through that process thoroughly, and I am delighted that it has brought us to Karl.”
As a former striker, Robinson previously played for several non-league clubs; Marine, Bamber Bridge, Oswestry, Kidsgrove Athletic, Prescot Cables, St Helens Town, Alsager Town and Warrington Town, amidst stints in Wales with Caernarfon and Rhyl.
He subsequently moved into management and led MK Dons to promotion from League One to Championship at the end of 2014-15 season, only to be relegated straight back down at the end of the following season before he left in October 2016.
Stints at Charlton, Oxford United and Salford City followed, during which he led Salford to the League Two Play-Off Final last season, where they lost to Notts County in what proved to be his final match in charge.
