Southampton manager, Tonda Eckert has praised midfielder, James Ward-Prowse for his “humble” attitude.
Ward-Prowse rejoined Southampton in late August after three years at West Ham – which included loan stints at Nottingham Forest and Burnley, and has featured in all six of the Saints’ recent league matches since his return.
His latest appearance saw him net a 50th-minute equaliser in an eventual 2-1 loss at Wrexham which ended their six-match unbeaten run and left them sat 13th in the table.
“I think he’s come in very humble,” commented Eckert to the club’s website on Ward-Prowse’s attitude given his history with the club. “Obviously he has a history with the club, and I think he does it in a very respectful way, coming back in
“I think his performances speak for themselves. He’s had a big impact for us, and I’m very happy with the way he’s settled in.”
Eckert also acknowledged that he would of preferred to have avoided defeat but iterated that the pain will be shaken off by the time they return from the international break, as they host Portsmouth on Sunday 11 October at 12pm BST.
“I still think there are some positives to take away from the performance, but at the moment it hurts because we didn’t get the result we wanted. We’re going to shake this off and make sure we have a good start after the break.
“We have a whole week now, so we continue with a friendly on Friday, and then we make sure we recover in the second week and have a proper run up for a very big and important game after the break.”
