2026-27 Premier League: Week Two – Leeds vs Brentford

Leeds United and Brentford both seek to continue their winning starts in a Premier League encounter.

Victory by four or more goals could lift Leeds top of the table if Brighton fail to win at Chelsea, whilst Brentford can move onto the summit if they win by two goals or more.

Team News

Wilfried Gnonto and Gabriel Gudmundsson could be available for Leeds subject to late fitness checks, following their recoveries from hamstring injuries.

Mateo Joseph (ACL) and Illa Gruev (knee) remain absent.

Brentford manager, Keith Andrews will have new signing, El Hadij Malick Diouf available for selection.

Yehor Yarmoliuk is set to be available despite having suffered a minor knock in their 6-1 victory at Birmingham in the Carabao Cup on Tuesday (25 August) evening.

Sepp van den Berg and Antoni Milambo remain sidelined with respective groin and ACL injuries.

When is Kick-Off?

Leeds host Brentford at Elland Road on Sunday 30 August at 2pm BST, live on Sky Sports Premier League in the UK.

Prediction

Having kept clean sheets in their league and Carabao Cup wins over Nottingham Forest this past week, Leeds can’t afford to get complacent because this is a totally different challenge because they will need to be clinical and defensively solid if want to quieten the Bees.

Brentford however do look a scary prospect because of how comfortably they bossed Tottenham and Birmingham with their intensity, control and clinical end product, which does look like a very difficult task for any team to nullify given their confidence and early momentum.

Elland Road though hasn’t exactly been the kindest to Brentford in the Premier League with three draws but if they bring their recent intensity, I fancy them to give Leeds a difficult afternoon and reduce the hosts to having to play counter-attacking football.

Prediction: Leeds 1-3 Brentford
