Barnet have signed midfielder, Jake Reeves from AFC Wimbledon on a season-long loan for the 2026-27 campaign.
Reeves’ loan move comes after three successful seasons with AFC Wimbledon as he helped the South London club achieve promotion to League One via the 2024-25 League Two Play-Offs, before they consolidated their third-tier status with survival last season.
The 33-year-old is excited to join the Bees and reunite with some familiar faces from his career so far.
“There are some very good footballers here, I’ve played with a few here already which always helps to settle in and it’s a nice easy group here and I can’t wait to get started.”
Manager, Dean Brennan added that Reeves will bring experience and fill the void left by Anthony Hartigan’s departure for Southend United this summer on a free transfer.
“We believe Reevesy will give us vast experience that we lack within the squad, he’s been promoted out of this league three times with both AFC Wimbledon and Stevenage.
“When Hartigan left we’ve been looking to replace that quarterback and Reeves ticks all the boxes.
“We’ve been after him for a long time, we know he’s a big character and a leader in the changing room and will give us something extra that we haven’t got, he’s a great addition to the midfield and a strong addition to the group.”
Reeves began his career at Tottenham then Brentford at youth level before he broke through into the Bees’ first-team with one goal in 46 senior appearances between 2011-14.
During his time at Brentford, Reeves enjoyed loans at St Albans City and AFC Wimbledon across which he made seven appearances in total.
Reeves joined Swindon for the 2014-15 season but after one goal in 12 appearances, he moved to AFC Wimbledon for a second spell, which saw him score four goals in 122 appearances and helped them gain promotion to League One in 2016.
A tricky spell followed at Bradford between 2017-20 with one goal in 46 appearances and he missed the entire 2018-19 season due to injury, before he spent two seasons at Stevenage in which he delivered five goals in 85 appearances.
July 2023 saw Reeves return to AFC Wimbledon for a third spell where he produced seven goals in 120 appearances on top of promotion via the play-offs, as the Dons beat Walsall in the 2025 Sky Bet League Two Play-Off Final.
