Goalkeeper, Freddie Woodman has signed a new three-year contract at Liverpool until June 2029.
Woodman joined the Reds last summer as third-choice goalkeeper behind Alisson and Giorgi Mamardashvili but made four appearances, of which his club debut came in a 3-0 Fourth Round exit against Crystal Palace in the Carabao Cup at Anfield in October 2025.
He went on to make his Premier League debut as a substitute for Mamardashvili in a 2-1 victory over Everton in April and went on to start the next two matches, as Liverpool beat Palace 3-1 then lost 3-2 at Manchester United whilst Mamardashvili and Alisson were both sidelined.
Woodman’s contract was set to expire next summer but his performances as third-choice goalkeeper led club bosses to act quickly with a new three-year contract until June 2029.
“I’m absolutely delighted, to be honest,” explained Woodman to Liverpoolfc.com on his new contract in pre-season. “Off the back of last season, personally it was amazing for me and then to come back in pre-season and there be an offer for me from the club to stay here longer, I was made up.
“I’m just so happy that I could re-sign here and be a part of this amazing club.”
The 29-year-old proceeded to add that he feels “pride and so many emotions,” at being entrusted with his new contract.
“Last season I came in and did the role I was doing and then when I got the opportunity to play, especially the Palace game, it just felt like a real connection to the fans and just a massive understanding of them.
“Now I get the chance to stay here for longer and to be a part of it again is unbelievable, and me and my family are delighted.”
Woodman now is aiming to deliver “… just exactly the same as last year, really: to do everything I can in the role that I do every single day, because I might be called upon at any moment,” Woodman added.
“Last season, I know it sounds crazy, but I was ready for that moment when it was at Everton. I worked all season just because I knew I might just have to play a small role, so that will be my goal again this season. It will just be to train and train and train until that moment comes.
“When it does come, I know I’ll be well prepared and ready for the moment.”
