Middlesbrough have signed forward, Will Lankshear from Tottenham Hotspur in a transfer worth up to £20m.
Lankshear’s move to Boro comes after he enjoyed a successful loan in the Championship at Oxford United, during which he contributed 12 goals and four assists in 47 total appearances across all competitions, as the Us suffered relegation to League One after they finished 22nd in the table.
His performances ultimately led to interest from many Championship clubs but Middlesbrough managed to strike a deal worth £20m, which reportedly involves an initial £10m fee plus a further £10m in add-ons for the 21-year-old.
In his first interview with mfc.co.uk, Lankshear described Boro as essentially a top-flight club in stature and is excited to help them challenge for automatic promotion.
“Middlesbrough is such a massive club over the years; I deem it to be a Premier League club.
“The project here really excites me. I can’t wait to get started and be part of the journey, and get this club back where it belongs.”

Lankshear began his career at Sheffield United where he impressed with 38 goals in 48 appearances across various youth levels combined, which led Tottenham to sign him in August 2022 and he spent two seasons playing in their academy.
He eventually made his senior debut in a 2-1 away win over Hungary’s Ferencvaros in October 2024 in the UEFA Europa League – which Spurs went on to win that season, before he scored his first senior goal a month later in a 3-2 loss at Turkey’s Galatasaray in which he also was sent off.
He subsequently was loaned out to West Bromwich Albion in the second half of that campaign, which saw him fail to score in 11 appearances for the Baggies before he joined Oxford Utd last season on a more successful loan.
