Czech Republic meet Mexico in their final Group A match at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Victory would see Czech Republic advance as Group A runners-up if South Korea lose to South Africa, although they could advance as one of eight best third-placed teams with a win depending on results in other groups.
Mexico have already qualified as Group A winners.
Team News

Mexico have no fresh injury concerns to report as Cesar Montes returns from his one-match ban, which saw him miss their 1-0 win over South Korea.
When is Kick-Off?
Czech Republic meet Mexico at Estadio Azteca, Mexico City, on Wednesday 24 June at 7pm CST (2am BST, Thursday 25 June), live on BBC One and BBC iPlayer in the UK.
Stat Attack
- This is Czech Republic’s first World Cup meeting against Mexico.
- Mexico lost their only previous meeting against Czech Republic in a Chinese New Year invitational tournament in February 2000.
- No Czech Republic player created more crosses in their first two group matches than Vladimir Coufal (12).
- Raul Jimenez and Julian Quinones have both converted three of six shots onto target in two appearances for Mexico at this tournament, of which they both also scored one goal each.
Prediction
In need of a win after two pretty disappointing performances compared to initial expectations, Czech Republic really need to turn up and produce a polished display because this is a great opportunity for them to progress via either path if can be more clinical.
Mexico meanwhile are safely through as Group A winners so it will be interesting to see how they approach this, as it’s easy to switch off and conserve some energy for the knockout stages or stay focused and look to top the group unbeaten with momentum.
Nevertheless this clash probably rests on Mexico’s line-up but I just think that they will get a draw here.
Prediction: Czech Republic 1-1 Mexico
