Jordan face Algeria in a crucial Group J showdown at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Victory would see Jordan stay third in the Group J table, whilst Algeria can leapfrog their opponents into third with a win.
Team News
Abdallah Nasib is a doubt for Jordan after he suffered a knock during their 3-1 loss to Austria.
Moussa Al-Tamari is available after he was substituted in that game due to concussion.
Algeria manager, Vladimir Petkovic is set to recall Riyad Mahrez after he left the winger out of his starting line-up in their 3-0 loss to Argentina.
When is Kick-Off?
Jordan face Algeria at Levi’s Stadium, San Francisco, USA, on Monday 22 June at 9pm PDT (4am BST, Tuesday 23 June), live on ITV1 and ITVX in the UK.
Stat Attack
- This is Jordan’s first World Cup meeting against Algeria.
- Algeria have avoided defeat in two of three previous meetings against Jordan in all competitions (W1, D1, L1).
- Eight of Jordan’s 11 shots against Austria were produced between Ali Olwan and Musa Al-Taamari – who both created four shots each.
- Algeria are yet to produce a shot on target this tournament.
Prediction
Despite their defeat to Austria, Jordan can take heart from scoring their first World Cup goal on debut and how they took the fight to them in a tightly-fought game, even though they were defensively outclassed in a game where they could of got a point on another day.
Algeria meanwhile were just poor against Argentina with not even one shot on target so a sharp improvement is required up front, although they were always likely to lose that game but to do so in the manner that they did was disappointing but Mahrez will at least bring fresh legs and energy to the attack.
Before the tournament began, my instinct was that Algeria would win this clash but now I do think that Jordan might just get something here.
Prediction: Jordan 1-1 Algeria
Result: Jordan 1-2 Algeria
