Defender, Kieran Trippier has joined Wolves on a free transfer following his exit from Newcastle United.

Trippier’s move to Molineux comes after four-and-a-half years at Newcastle which saw him help the Magpies twice qualify for the UEFA Champions League, and end their 70-year domestic trophy drought with the 2024-25 Carabao Cup title

The 35 year-old right-back has signed a two-year contract with Wolves which will be officially activated on 1 July 2026 once his contract at Newcastle expires a day earlier, and Trippier posted on X that he can’t wait for the latest chapter in his career.

“I’m so happy to bring him here,” added manager – Rob Edwards on boosting his squad’s level of experience and leadership talent. “When we met, it was evident that he really wants to come to Wolves.

“We know what we’ve lacked this year, and we know what we need next year – experience, leadership, resilient characters and strong characters – that’s what we’re going to need in abundance, and Tripps ticks every box.

“From quality to experience to leadership to know how, and he also has a real hunger. He wants to help us get promoted again, and this is really something for us to achieve.

“He did have good options elsewhere, so for us to be able to get it over the line and get him in is a real coup. But it shows what a big club we are. We are a big draw and building on the Andre news, I don’t think we could have had a better start to the summer with what we’re trying to do.”
